Cost of college went up for resident students at the University of New Mexico-Valencia County Campus

In-state tuition and fees rose 6.8 percent for 2018-19 at the University of New Mexico-Valencia County Campus, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New Mexico residents paid $1,878 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $120 more than the $1,758 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 173.2 percent more than residents this year, or $5,130. Non-resident tuition and fees were unchanged from $5,130 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New Mexico residents.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 221 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.2 million and 37 students took out student loans totaling more than $185,837.

Including all undergraduates (2,041), 1,018 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.5 million, and 409 students took out $3.1 million in federal student loans.
