Duran Faces Several Charges

Arrest

Valencia County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on March 25.

On Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Officers with the Belen Police Department initiated a traffic stop that occurred in the parking lot of Dollar Tree, located on South Main Street. Officers came into contact with the driver. During the encounter, a struggle ensued as officers located a firearm on the driver Gilbert Duran. Duran who had a valid warrant for his arrest fled on foot and officers were able to apprehend him after a short foot pursuit. The vehicle was sealed pending a search warrant. The warrant was obtained and an AR15 rifle was located as well as ammunition of different calibers. Also located in the vehicle were some methamphetamine, heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, THC was which was mixed with the other narcotics, illegal mushrooms, fentanyl pills, and Xanax pills, and various other pills. Duran who is currently on probation for Aggravated Fleeing, Possession of a controlled substance, trafficking a controlled substance, and tampering with evidence was taken to a medical center to be cleared before being booked into the Valencia County Detention Center. Duran faces several charges such as felon in possession of a firearm and trafficking a controlled substance.
